Dell Data Protection | Security Tools (DDP | ST) is an end-to-end security solution included with all Dell Precision, Latitude and OptiPlex systems. DDP | ST offers advanced authentication options to help you keep unauthorized users out of your data and out of your business.

  Hardware authentication:Provide secure access control using optional smart card and fingerprint readers with Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 201 certification and an optional contactless smart card reader.
  Trusted Platform Module (TPM):Securely store credentials with an integrated TPM. Only Dell offers a TPM with FIPS 140-2 certification and hardware credential processing for an added layer of security.
  Centralized remote management:Manage user credentials, passwords, encryption policies and multiple hardware authentication methods remotely from the Dell Data Protection single management console.
  Secure sign-on:Support Microsoft Windows preboot login and single sign-on (SSO).

Dell Authentication Bundle

Help provide a solid hardware foundation to support multifactor authentication with the Dell Authentication Bundle, which is managed by DDP | ST and is optional on Dell Precision, Latitude and OptiPlex systems. The solution includes Dell ControlVault, which is approved for Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS 201) and additional hardware authentication features such as:

  Smart card reader:Supports Common Access Cards (CACs) and Personal Identity Verification (PIV) cards.
  Contactless smart card reader: Offers streamlined user authentication and is easily managed using DDP | ST solutions.
  Fingerprint reader:Supports the Windows Biometric Framework. Also available with Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 201 certification.

Embedded hardware security

Enhanced hardware security features are available in Dell business-class laptops and workstations. These include self-encrypting drives (SEDs), DDP | Hardware Crypto Accelerator, TPM and Dell ControlVault. Combined with DDP | ST software, Dell hardware security features support a strong, layered authentication solution.

Dell ControlVault

Dell ControlVault, available on Dell Latitude systems with the Dell Authentication Bundle, offers secure hardware storage for all user credentials — such as user passwords, smart card data or fingerprint data — used during Microsoft Windows preboot. Dell ControlVault fully isolates a user’s credentials from potentially unsecured operating systems and hard drives.
